Abstract

Our main focus with this project is to redesign the current rover for TTU's NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge team. We are looking at many different aspects of the rover to decide what needs to be done to create a successful rover. By looking at what adaptions have been made to the previous rovers, and what still needs to be changed, while keeping the new rules in mind, we are redesigning the rover to be more competitive and safer than ever before. We are not only looking at new materials and new designs to achieve this goal, but also looking at previously unused manufacturing techniques that will allow us to create parts the were previously not possible to produce. It has been challenging trying to join an existing team saying you are here to make some serious changes to their ideas, but by working hand in hand with the team, and not changing anything without first considering and comparing their ideas, we have become a part of the team and as a whole are making some serious changes that are creating a rover and a team that can win the competition and bring home first place for our school.
