Abstract

This won best graduate poster for History.

As part of a Provost micro-grant hosted by the Tennessee Technological University (TTU) Archives and Special Collections and the TTU History Department, two students collaborated in the creation of a virtual, historical tour of the University campus under the guidance of three faculty members. A humanities major and STEM major took part in the project, with the purpose of facilitating a digital humanities project that included the collaboration between the two vastly different disciplines. In the process of creating the project, the two students performed original archival research using primary resources; learned about digital preservation; learned html; 360 photograph creation through Photoshop, and CSS code; and collaborated with the iCube and iMakerspace all in the creation of a virtual, 360 tour of the TTU campus.  . The end creation is an outstanding, virtual work of design that highlights the rich history of the Tennessee Tech campus and highlights the technological skills of the University students, which they shared online through GitHub as an open source collaboration for all University Archives.
