Abstract

The Calfkiller River is home to endangered and threatened species. The lower sections of the river are impounded by two dams that no longer serve a purpose, disrupting the natural flow of the river. Working with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, side scan sonar was used to collect detailed information about the substrate. This information was then processed in a GIS to see what changes may occur in the river if the dams are removed.
