Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Author/Researcher Eligibility requirements:

  • Submissions will be solicited from current TTU undergraduate students or those who have graduated within the past academic year.  
  • Submissions will be accepted that are written/produced by individuals, groups, or faculty/student partnerships. 
  • At least 50% of the content should be produced by students.
  • Submissions will be accepted from any discipline/degree program offered at TTU.
  • Authors may submit no more than 2 submissions per cycle. 

Submission Criteria:

  • Submissions will be accepted in the form of written manuscripts (no more than 5000 words in length); digital artifacts (e.g. video), and creative works (e.g. poetry, photography).
  • Submissions must follow all applicable rules for copyright.
  • Submitters will be required to indicate, via a submission check list, that they have followed standards for format and blinding.
  • Submission must utilize, when applicable, an appropriate form of citation (e.g. APA, MLA, Chicago). APA is preferred.
  • Submissions must include an abstract and key words.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

For site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. The Journal of Creative Inquiry uses software programs to create summary statistics for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest or identifying system performance or problem areas. The following is the type of information collected about your visit to the Web site: the name of the Internet domain from which you access the Creative Inquiry Web site (for example, “google.com" if you are connecting from Google) and the date and time you access our site and what files you viewed. If you choose to provide us with personal information in an e-mail message, we use it only to respond to your e-mail. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, our host uses software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. Information also may be used for authorized law enforcement investigations. Except for the above purposes, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits.
